GLIX – Cooper’s Hill, Brockworth, Gloucestershire, UK. 25th May, 2026. The Cooper’s Hill cheese-rolling is an annual event which has been running for centuries & may be as much as 600 years old. It consists members of the public in groups of around 25 chasing a 3-4kg Double Gloucestershire cheese ‘wheel’ down the hill. 3 men’s races, 1 women’s race. The hill is very steep & 180m long, & competitors often fall on the way with injuries common. Participants travel from around the world. The cheese is too fast to be caught but first person to the bottom is declared winner.
GLIX – Hergisdorf, Germany. 25th May, 2026. Participants jump into a mud hole at the 2026 Dirty Pig Festival in Hergisdorf. Winter is symbolically chased away at the forest party, the actual Dirty Pig Festival. To do this, the men jump into a mud hole. The „dirty pigs” are driven out of a mud-filled hole with a loud crack of the whip.

GLIX – Tetbury, Gloucestershire, UK. 25th May, 2026. Running up that hill on a very hot day carrying a Woolsack. The annual Tetbury Woolsack races take place on Bank Holiday Monday. Competitors, men, women and children; race up the steep 1 in 4 gradient of Gumstool Hill in this pretty Cotswold town carrying a woolsack. The men carry a 60lb sack and the ladies a 30lb sack.
